Minsk Regional Customs for 2018 revealed 7 thousand administrative offenses and opened 29 criminal cases
One of the most important tasks of the customs authorities is to curb attempts to violate the law and ensure the economic security of the Republic of Belarus.
Minsk Regional Customs contributes to the solution of these problems. Dozens of administrative offenses are detected weekly, criminal cases are initiated for the illegal transfer of prohibited goods, and non-payment of customs duties on a large scale.
In 2018, the Minsk Regional Customs revealed almost 7 thousand administrative offenses. 29 criminal cases were initiated, which is 53% more than in 2017 - for illegal movement of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors and analogues through the EAEU customs border, evasion of customs payments on a large scale, and also under Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus "Contraband".
In total, last year, customs prevented 37 facts of illegal movement of psychotropic substances, narcotic drugs, precursors and toxic substances across the customs border of the EAEU. More than 7,5 kg of prohibited substances were withdrawn from illegal circulation.

At the beginning of the year, the import of six elite cars under the guise of auto parts with an estimated value of 510,000 Belarusian rubles was prevented from entering the EAEU customs territory. The examination established that the identification numbers of the cars were modified. And according to Interpol, all these cars were on the international wanted list.
In March, customs officers revealed an attempt to illegally move 25 thousand euros in international mail. The sender announced the move in sending chocolate candies and clothing. However, during customs inspection with the use of X-ray equipment, it was found that a large amount of currency is being moved at the bottom of the candy boxes. On this fact, the Minsk Regional Customs opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
In April, the illegal importation of a Brazilian-made glider for 80 thousand rubles into the EEU customs territory was prevented. The individual entrepreneur tried to evade payment of customs payments for 12 thousand rubles.
In November, officers of the Molodechno customs post found in the railway container almost 5 thousand units of new items of clothing and footwear that are not indicated in the accompanying documents and moved under the guise of used items. The cost of undeclared new items amounted to more than 140 thousand Belarusian rubles.
In addition, for the year, 5 attempts were discovered to illegally move a dangerous psychotropic modafinil in international mail.
